The Desert Aire Airport boasts a 3666' x 36' runway of hot mix asphalt. It has a beacon and runway lights which are pilot-activated. Three clicks on the microphone will turn them on for 15 minutes before they turn themselves off. There is a tie-down area at the west end large enough for 15 airplanes. Privately-owned lots along the entire length of the taxiway have direct access to the airport from individual hangars.
The Airport is a public use airport and is eligible for public funds for major improvements and maintenance. It is owned by the Desert Aire Owner's Association, and is leased to Grant County Airport District #1. The Airport District has roughly the same boundaries as Desert Aire itself. Three Airport Commissioners govern the airport and are elected by public ballot every 2 years. The lease runs until 2015 and is renewable.

Our current Commissioners are David Strand (509-932-5642), Ralph Herth (509-932-0505), and Cliff Naser (509-932-4198). Airport meetings are open to the public and are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Desert Aire Multi-Purpose Building.
The airport has an annual Fly-In Breakfast in June for which the entire community is invited. Thirty to forty airplanes from all over the Northwest fly in for the fun, and everyone is served breakfast. The fare is pancakes, sausage, eggs, orange juice, coffee and milk. The event is held in hangars owned by airport lot owners, and people may walk-in, drive-in, or fly-in for a hearty breakfast and lots of good, friendly company!
