Keep your eye on the appellations of Yakima Valley and Red Mountain (Washington State's smallest). Currently, more than 70 Washington wineries are located in the Yakima Valley, Rattlesnake Hills and Red Mountain wine regions, with several more planned. Not all are open for public tasting. Be sure to allow time to wander the many back roads of the area where most vineyards are located, and during harvest season in the fall, roll down the window and breathe deep.
